Working out

Steven and I joined the gym this summer. At first, I mostly used it for the swimming pool. Maggie and I would go and cool off in the afternoon at the pool. I occassionally went to the water aerobics class, but we have been gone a lot this summer so I haven't used the gym a lot.

Last week, I realized how much better I feel when I walk for 30 minutes. There's a child care section that Maggie can go to while I work out. At first, she hated going, but now she enjoys it. She loves Wednesdays, too. They have a gym class for kids and she showed me her "yogo" moves this morning. It was pretty cute.

So, I think I set a new record for me. I worked out 5 times last week. I have been 3 times this week so far. I might only make it 4 times this week because of a work day on Saturday at church. Of course, I haven't lost any weight, but I feel better and I know it's good for my borderline high blood pressure.

Good news

My mom got a job! She will be teaching middle school English. YAY! She asked me to take some pictures of Maggie for a planner that she is ordering of Maggie being a teacher.

I have a question for y'all. Maggie wants a laptop to type on like mine. I have seen some Barbie laptops for little girls that are cute. But, I think you can only play the preloaded games on them. I would like to find a laptop for her that she could type on and play games on. Any ideas?!

Maggie's vocabulary

In the past few days, Maggie has spoken some pretty grown up words.

1. Constellation. She made a picture of a constellation. When asked about what it was, she said that it's a group of stars that come together to make a picture.

2. Incompotent. She has a myspace page and likes to leave messages for her friends.I type as she dictates. She was writing a message to James and told him that she loved him, but he was incompotent.

Here's that Ellen video. It really is hilarious

Random

I am such a dork listening to the ELLEN show on a video on Joey's blog. Steven and I are sharing his ear phones and laughing outloud. People are looking at us.

We are flying out of Richmond and I am going to pick up Maggie. Then, we are headed back to Manteca.

We talked to some missionaries in Florida that speak spanish. We told them where we were from and they thought that it was hilarious that our town was named Manteca. Manteca means lard in spanish.

Last night, the Church of the Brethren had a peace march around the Marriott. I'm not sure what they accomplished from their walk, but it was fun to watch from the top of the convention center.

I'm in the South

I forget that I love the south. I love how friendly people are. I was in the bathroom. There was a mom with 4 boys under 4. How do I know this? Every lady in there was helping out the mama with her boys and talking to her. While this was going on, 2 ladies met and realized that they had gone to the same high school. Only in the south would this happen!

I'm in New Orleans. I spent the night with my dad and stepmom. They are taking care of Maggie for the week. They all seemed excited. I hope they are excited when I pick her up!

I'm delayed by 30 minutes and then going to Atlanta. I have a 2 hour lay over there. I hope that I make it to Richmond in time. i have a back up flight. Evidently all the flights are delayed coming in and out of Atlanta. I should be in Atlanta at the exact same time that Steven is there, but he leaves on a later flight.

AND...he left his cell phone at home. If anyone needs him this week, call me. I hope he reads this or gets the email that I left him about my change in flights.

Can we go to the mall?

We were camping this weekend. I don't think Maggie is a outdoorsy girl! She hates bugs and being hot.

At one point during the weekend she said: "does anyone want to go to the mall with me?".

Then, she said:" I just want to go home and watch some tivo!".

I don't think we have a girl scout on our hands.

Emailing your doctor

I love this concept. I can write an email to my doctor and she will write an email back to me. This is an awesome idea! I had some more questions about our adoption paperwork so I wrote her an email on Sunday. She writes me back. This is so awesome. I don't have to wait on the phone to leave a message. This is so lame but it's very exciting to me.

flip flops

Okay, I'm kind of torn about this. Steven and I are watching what not to wear. There's a girl who loves flip flops. Clinton just said" flip flops give the impression that you just don't care about yourself and you've given up". Steven made me watch this part twice. He said that Maggie and I only wear flip flops.

I don't know what to think about this. I admit that I just don't dress very nicely right now. I work from home and where do I go? To the park? To the coffee shop? I wear shorts and flip flops. Clinton and Stacy would say that I should care about the way that I look. It gives the impression that I care more about myself. But, it seems weird to wear nice clothes to run errands and go to Target. Besides, it involves a sense of style and money to do that.

I heart my hubby

1. He spent all morning on the phone with the IRS. They said that Maggie didn't exist because of an inverted number in her SS number. She does exist and now they believe us. However we won't be able to get her as part of the stimulus package until next year. Good thing we weren't counting on it.

2. He is so cool that the Brethren church wants him to speak at the National Conference next week. He's going to kill me for talking about this. Want more details? Bug him on his blog.....www.stevencole.org
