Maggie takes my iPad and plays with the camera a lot. I love when I accidentally stumble across a gem like this one.
I wonder why adults don't play with the camera filters like an 8 year old can. I just don't think to do that. Maybe the world would be a sillier place of we took the time to take pictures of ourselves on the couch with lots of effects.
Deep thoughts based on a 8 year old playing with the iPad camera filters.

My smart girl
Last night, I was in a funk. I have been deep cleaning Maggie's room and the rest of the house is suffering. I know, I know, there are so many bigger issues in life. It's just that it really stresses me out. I can't get on top of things and it just adds to my stress.
I was lamenting all this to Steven last night and Maggie was playing on my iPad. After my rant, I decided on go back to Maggie's room and work some more. I told Maggie to come with me and woke on it together.
We got back to her room and we were working in decluttering. I want to really declutter each room and have started in her room.
She said, "mommy, you really shouldnt stress out so much. It is not good for your health. Yesterday, I got frustrated at school and worried during star testing. My tummy started hurting and I felt like I was going to throw up. It is just not good for you."
It hit me hard. Here was my 8 year old telling me to relax. I struggle with handling stress. I don't do it well and it really is effecting my health.
She smiled and hugged me and said that she didn't want me to feel sick over stuff.
I love that girl. She is wise.

Butterflies
Jessica came over and played in the backyard with Maggie. I sat outside and watched them spray each other with the hose.
A butterfly flew by while they were playing. Jessica squealed and begged maggie to spray the butterfly with water from the hose.
Maggie looked puzzled and asked why.
Jessica said,"I am scared of butterflies. A butterfly attacked me one time."
I can envision this attack. I am glad Jessica is still alive!

Good gosh, girl
Maggie's room is messier than usual. It needs a major overhaul of trash and going through old toys.
Tonight, Maggie came and asked me if I could get her tent from the top of her closet. I asked her why she didn't ask steven to get it since he is taller and could reach it.
She sheepishly replied, "well, daddy will go in my room and say, 'good gosh, girl, your room is a mess."
It was exactly what he would say!

Baby snoring
Last night, copper went right to his kennel and started softly snoring.
I laid next to Maggie in her bed for a few minutes before she fell asleep. We both giggled at copper for snoring.
She said,"it is so sweet to hear my baby snoring. It relaxes me." then, she quickly fell asleep, which never happens. Maggie takes a long time to fall asleep each night. She usually comes to tell me that she could never go to sleep and five minutes later she is asleep.
I wonder why it is that when our babies are asleep, we fall asleep so much better. When Patrick is having a hard time napping, there is no way that I can relax.
Maybe I should exercise copper really hard each day do he will go right to sleep and start snoring. That could vbe Maggie's sound machine. She has always slept better with some whit e noise in the background.

Mrs Corrine
Mrs. Corrine is the school crossing guard at Maggie's school. She greets each child with a smile and most with a hug. She calls each one by name and talks to Patrick each morning. He started giving her a hug now, too.
Maggie told me that she invited mrs,. Corrine to her birthday party. I explained to Maggie that she probably wouldn't come to the party. She is a busy grown up and probably wouldn't make it.
Guess who showed up on Friday night? Mrs. Corrine!
It was like a celebrity walked in the roo. The kids from school all squealed and ran to her for a hug. They fought over who got to sit next to her. Matthew asked her if it was okay to get up from the table when he was finished.
She got a stop sign painted on her arm at memaw's face painting booth. She took pictures in the photo booth with all the kids.
She was so sweet to come to the arty. I wrote an email to the principal about how much it meant to Maggie for her to show up.
She is a special person to our family.

My real thoughts
Sitting in starbucks at a little 2 seat table. Older lady sits down at the table in front of mine. She scoots her chair in and bumps into the chair where I have my laptop bag and squishes it closer to my table. Then, she looks at the bag and scoots her chair in a little more and squishes the bag closer to the table. Why?
There are 2 empty tables on the other side of us.
She could move the other way and move the table out a little more.
Why does this bug me so much?
I am staring at the back of her head and wondering what she would think if she knew that I was blogging about this.
Does it bug me because of past interactions I have had with her? The ones where she told me that people in the south were dumb to live where there are tornadoes.
I wonder what I will do if she pushes in my stinking chair one more time.
I remember the man behind me that I have been talking to for weeks and building a relationship with. He is far from Jesus and it's complicated.
What if I yelled at her when she pushes my chair again(we all know it's gonna happen)? What would guy behind me think?

Eight is great
My baby girl is turning 8 today. At first, she decided that she didn't want to be eight, but I've convinced her that "eight is great".
It's a phrase that I repeat to her every morning as her morning cheerleader. She's decided that eight is going to rock and she can't wait to be 8.
She's had a good year. She's learning how to play the piano. She's learning how to play golf. She's also riding her bike like a champ.
I'm so proud of my big girl. We had a wonderful girls' trip to Miss Lori's wedding. She is sweet to her little brother and loves to read to him at night. She alternates between being a mama's girl and a daddy's girl. She is such a sweet, fun girl and love her so much
Eight is gonna be great!
