From the mouths of babes...
Patrick:
1. Calls Nah Nah a different name. He calls him "Da-Nah Nah". I think it's a combination of Daddy and Nah Nah.
2. He found a train that I bought on super sale. He desperately wanted to open up the box to get to the "choo choo". We told him that we would open it up this afternoon. He left the room and came back with his plastic hammer and saw and started banging on the box with all his might.
3. When I tell him to do something that he doesn't want to do, he drops to his knees and barks. He becomes a pretend puppy and barks and crawls around.
Yep, it's a laugh a minute around here....

To be fair...
I love this super fresh girl. She is so sweet and hilarious. She is getting very excited about Valentine's day and the party they are having at school on Thursday. She has carefully picked out each of the Valentine's cards that she is giving to her classmates. We addressed them last night. As I would read out the name, she would carefully pick a Valentine from the stack and decide on one. She would giggle as she imagined them opening the card.
I love her.

planting an apple tree
In December, Maggie ate an apple. She decided to keep the apple seeds so she could plant an apple tree in the front yard. At the time, I didn't argue with the logic here. I figured the apple seeds would be lost and it would be a non issue by the time it was time to plant the tree.
Why do I never learn?
Last Thursday, it was a beautiful day. Maggie hurried through her homework so she could play outside. Wait, she had a better idea. She found her apple seeds that she had carefully placed in the ziploc bag in her craft supplies. She was going to plant the apple seeds.
She called her resident expert on planting, Sandy Tapley. She called and talked to her about how to plant them and if it was too early for planting an apple tree.
Sandy suggested that she plant them in a small cup and transfer the plant when it gets a little bigger.
Maggie suggested to Steven that we take down the big tree in the front yard and replace it with her new apple tree.
Steven really liked the idea of getting rid of the bane of his existence (except for the animals in our house).

Maggie-isms
Last night, I put Maggie to bed. She said that "she was sweating more than a sinner in church".
Then, I came to check on her in 3 minutes as she asked me to do. She asked me if I was watching tv.
I told her that I was hanging out with Steven talking to him.
She said, "Daddy is so awesome. I wish I would've married him before you go to him. "
I told her that she would find someone awesome for her to marry when it was time to get married (like in 27 years).
She said, "I wish I could make a replica of Daddy. Could we put him on a copier and make a copy of him for me to marry me?".
Then, she fell asleep and the Maggie-isms were over for the night.
